Street Care
The vision of New Life is to be a contemporary, life giving, growing, family Church, reaching thousands.To help achieve this vision, the goal of Street Care ministry is to care for people in our community by demonstrating God’s love through acts of generosity and kindness. Our target group is the elderly and single parent families who struggle to do everyday tasks due to physical limitations or pressures. All services are completely volunteer based and are free of charge to the community.

How do we hear about a job?
A lot of people hear about what we are doing through organisations and via word of mouth. They will contact us on the phone and we will then determine if there is a significant need and whether we are able to assist them.
Responding to a job
When a job arises, we will send out a text with the details of the job, equipment needed, date and approximate duration of the job. It is the volunteers responsibility to text back either yes or no. This helps us in being able to organise the job. The more volunteers we have the quicker we get through the jobs. If you have something on that particular day, it’s okay. We want NLSC to be flexible to be able to work around people’s everyday lives. We totally understand if you have other commitments. Also sometimes you may not get a text for a while depending on what is required in particular jobs eg we might only get a cleaning job once a month. We are happy for any volunteer work that you can do.
Requirements of a Volunteer
- A heart that is willing to serve the people in our community without expecting anything in return.
- Always check (particularly with the elderly) the requirements of the job and ensure that you are both clear about what needs to be done.
- Be friendly and positive when doing jobs. Go the extra mile by checking to see if there is anything else that needs to be done before leaving the job.
- Complete jobs as if you were doing it for yourself and take pride in what you do.
- Be safe when completing a job.
- Be a listening ear and take the time to stop for a coffee if you can.
- Always endorse the act of generosity especially when they insist on paying. We do not accept money for jobs.
- Pray before you come along. We believe that every job is a divine appointment where we can be an example of God’s love.
- If a person indicates that they may want to come to church, follow it up with a call before the service. When they do come along, be friendly and make them feel so welcome and loved.
- Wear a NLSC Shirt when doing jobs in the community.

New Life Street Care is covered under the church’s public liability insurance policy.
